Step-by-step guide
- Suomu offers a ski resort, hotel, restaurant, rental services and snowmobile activities.
- Suomu Safaris provides local safaris and ice fishing. Huskies are available for example through Hemmula and Kota-Husky.
- The nearest small grocery store is K-Market Kelloniemi in Joutsijarvi, about 15 kilometres away. Larger supermarkets are in Kemijarvi.
- Good day-trip destinations within about one hour include Riisitunturi, Ruka, Kuusamon Tropiikki, Pyhatunturi, Sallatunturi, the Amethyst Mine in Luosto and the Pieni Karhunkierros trail.
- Northern lights cannot be seen in summer when the sun does not set. The best viewing spot is a dark, open place without artificial light.
- Good aurora spots include the top of the fell or the open area of Kemijarvi in winter.

Auroras are only visible when the sky is clear enough and space weather conditions are favourable.
